I agree 100% with your statement about fireworks, I remember went my family went to some of the canary islands, dont remember wich one, I've been to 3 or 4 I think, there every first monday of every month one country(i think) had to display their fireworks display, I even think it was timed to music. Very impressive, thats the kind of thing you want to witness, not some jackasses who send up boring rockets after another.
I celebrates with some.."friends" with a great view over Stockholm. Shitloads of people at Slussen, I mostly found the whole idea of alcohol, people you barely like, fireworks with no idea behind them, and the idea to wait until its midnight to have scream and shout is not only silly, but retarded at best. Have you seen the tv show "Dexter" ? I feel very much like him in the sense that I see things from the outside, and then they are really stupid.
