You're right, they don't deserve all that. However, right now, he doesn't need to be told that. There are levels of time for berating someone about their behavior (And people do believe that the police are "fair targets" however wrong they are, it's a "that's a person in a position of authority, they think they're better than me" thing), but while someone's life is collapsing around their ears isn't really a good time for that.

There's also a level of failed lightening up in a post which is basically an account with absolutely no positive sides whatsoever. Bleak, depressing stuff is bleak and depressing and hard to read, and very hard to write. Bleak, depressing stuff with smilies and jokes is easier to cope with, there's some gray in the black.
